Some more friends!

Matt met this wicked couple from Finland, who we had met on a previous island. He spent the day with them and they took him snorkeling.

Matts Sailing Adventure

Unfortuntly I caught a vomitting bug that Matt had also had few days before, so I was unable to go on our sailing trip. I insisted Matt went so he could experience it for the both of us and get me some pics! He visited the island that the Tom Hanks film "Castaway" was filmed. On the shore, written in coconuts was the word "Castaway"!

Here is the sailing ship and my man! He said the whole day was amazing, with great snorkeling. He saw his first trigger fish and a stingray!! I was well jealous!!! But he did bring me a beautiful bracelet as a get well gift from the Fijian market he visited. What a sweetie!

Bounty Island

Bounty Island was a beautiful little island of which it took 30mins to walk around! There was no village on the island, purely a resort, which gave us air-con in our bure a fridge and a hot shower, which is more than we were used to. Although these were all nice we felt it lacked in character.

Trekking

We went on a mountain trek and climbed to the top of "big rock" which sat 600 meters high. It was a five hour hike and we got back at sunset.

Trekking

Here is our guide "Nemportie", he was 63 years old and did the whole thing barefoot!! The man is a legend!!

If you look you can see a gorilla and a dogs head! When we got to the top, we stood on the edge of a sheer drop and enjoyed the incredible views, which made the tough trek well worth while.

Waya Lei Lei

I was taught how to weave a bracelet from banana tree leaves with the local women.
This is the island of Waya Lei Lei and it was one of our favourite islands! We lived within the village with the locals and met some really amazing people. Its a place we will never forget and would love to visit again someday.

snorkeling with sharks

We went snorkeling for the first time and what a first time it was! Saw hundreds of fish, beautiful coral and reef sharks!

Manta Ray

This was our second island, Manta Ray. We only stayed there for one night but had a cool time. We found out how much fun you could have with coconuts. Matt was cracking them with his bare fist (local man game......very macho!lol!), and I was taught how to make a coconut bracelet.

The guy in the orange reminded us so much of a young Lenny Henry, very funny!

caving

Today we took a guided caving trip. We had a short boat ride to a beautiful and uninhabited island. We were taken up to a hole in the rock face and lead down half a dozen concrete steps to a ledge in a huge dark cave full of water and told to jump in!! It was incredibly scarey as you couldn't see the bottom and you wondered what was in there with you? But the guide assured us it was safe so in we went! The back of the cave was vast and open and the light poured in from above, giving you a beautiful blue pool.

Unfortunately we don't have any photos of the second cave, as you had to swim through an underwater tunnel to get to it!! Bloomin scarey but well worth it!

crab racing

The locals put on an international crabrace for us. We had to bid on the crab that we wanted...I got Lady Sue and Matt got Kings Bloody cross. Unfortunutly we didn't win but met some great people!!

first day in coral view

We had a walk around the island and discovered this little beach which we had all to ourselves.

"I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts...diddledeedee!!!"

bure

After a 5 hour boat journey we arrived at our first destination, the village run resort of Coral View, on the island Tavewa. BULA!!! (hello in Fijian!).
This is a pic of our Bure whilst on the island and the view from it! wow!

Yasawa islands

With only a short time in Fiji, we had to try and make the most of our time and see as much as possible. So we decided after landing in Nadi to take a tour of the Yasawa Islands.
